Musana is a faith based community development organization that builds locally owned schools, hospitals, and social enterprises that generate their own income. They equip communities with the tools to thrive for generations. Free from dependency, rich in opportunity, and driven by their own vision for the future. This medical/dental trip is a chance to be inspired by Ugandan leaders’ passion to be the change in their community and supporting the medical staff in raising the bar for life-saving care, eliminating travel barriers and ensuring reliable, high-quality service for lasting community health and education. Your role will be learner and encourager to the local Ugandans.

Musana Origin Story video. The WHY, the heart, the reason we go.
Partnership Story video. Cherry Hills is excited to partner with Musana

The Medical/Dental trip is designed for those who want to build relationships and see what happens when others are empowered to do things for themselves. It is an opportunity to travel to Uganda with a team to experience Musana’s model firsthand and see how Musana is empowering communities to thrive! Participants will visit Musana’s schools, hospitals, and economic development projects to learn, observe, and encourage local change-makers. Participants will also engage in screening vitals and educating people on preventative care. While participants will bring their medical expertise to a cross-cultural setting, emphasis is placed on empowering and encouraging local leaders in their knowledge and provision of care, and supporting Musana in their work in the local community rather than providing primary care. Participants have an opportunity to begin to discover how God would like to use them around the world and how they might bring lessons from international medicine to their practice at home, all while becoming Musana’s advocates and friends. Your role is a learner, an ambassador, and an encourager.

Those with an active certification (must be able to provide a copy of valid certification/license) in general/family practice, trauma/emergency/field medicine, maternal/female health, pediatrics, dental, and eye specialists are encouraged to apply. In addition to medical expertise, participants should come with a curiosity to learn about who Musana is and how they partner with local communities, feel strongly about encouraging the role local community leaders play, have a willingness to be led by field staff, a heart to teach but also to learn, have a passion to discover what third-world medicine might have to teach Western medicine, and a strong desire to exemplify Jesus in all they do.
